About Firethorne

Firethorne was started in 2015 during a downturn in the industry with a focus of helping our customers drill oil wells in the Permian Basin. We are still here doing what we set out to do in the beginning. We are located in Odessa Texas and we are passionate about what we do and strive to be the best.

Jesse Waters is from Goldsmith Texas, located outside of Odessa. He has been in and around the oil patch his entire life except for 4 years at the United States Military Academy at West Point NY and 5 years in the U.S. Army serving as a commissioned officer.

Upon returning to the oil field in 2006, Jesse earned his Class A CDL and started driving a truck for the family business, Waters & Waters Services. Eventually, he took over operations of the business from his father, grew the company and eventually merged it with Shores Lift Solutions, and then sold the combined company to Schlumberger.

In 2014 the industry entered back into a bust cycle and Jesse returned to the family businesses to assist his brother, Jason Waters, in the management of the portfolio of companies. Jesse now serves as President of Firethorne Downhole Tools.

Craig Monk was born and raised in Odessa Texas and graduated from Permian High School in 1998. In 1999, he started his career in the oilfield focusing on the drilling tool industry and a dream to own his own business one day.

Craig started his career with Weatherford and Triumph Drilling Tools, learning the basics of the industry until 2008, when he left to start his own business, Craig-O Services. Craig-O Services rented drilling tools and Craig grew it from a one-man operation to a company of a considerable size that was sold to HPC Energy in 2014. After two years with HPC, Craig decided it was time to branch back out and he started a new directional drilling and tool rental business in 2016 called Firethorne Downhole Tools. Craig succeeded in starting new businesses during challenging markets through his knowledge of the industry and focus on customer service. In 2018, Craig managed the merger of Firethorne Downhole Tools with Patriot Downhole Tools to create a tool rental and drilling motor company in order to continue to service the customers of the Permian Basin with first-in-class products and services.
